2 inches makes a difference
alright i got my 2'' jackplate spacers installed today took the motor out and whalla ive got bow lift these spacers made a big difference. gained 200rpm. when im triming all the way out im still gaining speed but the rooster tail is still high. i know when ur over trimed the rooster tail will be high but im not over trimed cause im still picking up speed even with this rooster tail so do i move the jack plate down or go up i figyres down i just wonted a second opionion from the setup guys... and is there a way to add rake to a proppeller for increasing bow lift other than adding cupping to the tips.... im running at 45mph (yea i know right) 5000rpms tournment loaded.

Re: 2 inches makes a difference
You say you're still gaining speed but... what's it look like when you hit top end and gaining no'mo speed? The rooster tail will be higher when trimmed for top end but haven't gotten there yet. As you gain speed and the bow starts to lift the rooster tail will lay down. If you're hittin' top end and think the rooster tail is still too high you may need to get Jay to tweek the prop a tad to give you more bow lift with less trim to get you where you want to be.

Re: 2 inches makes a difference
when i hit top speed the rooster tail is stil 3 to 4 feet above the cowling. thing never lays down all the way . when i get fully trimed before top speed the thing looks like a drag boat bout 6' to 8' rooster tail then lays down to 3 to 4 feet rooster tail.. im not over triming cause without no rooster tail i run 4 to 5 mph slower... as for the prop tweaking my previous renegade when i took it to the prop shop they took it to the back bout 10 minutes later they brought it back missing a chunk out of its ear they said they never seen one do that but i cant bad mouth the shop. they did the right thing and got me another one they added cup... i think looks the same as it did beforre if theres some its minute. i think its more of a setup thing

Re: 2 inches makes a difference
This is a Renegade right? It needs all the cup it can stand or it will never run high. About knee high is about where I like to see the rooster tail, anymore than that and your waisting horsepower.

Re: 2 inches makes a difference
Ok thats right......now ifn I gots my wits together that Raker will definately ....if its in decent shape bring the nose up.....they are known for that....The 140 is DEFINATELY able to spin that puppy and ifn memory serves me right depending on where you put it as far as engine height you should be able to get in the neighborhood of 5500-5700 Now thats trimmed out full tilt boogie running fer the border
