crappie and brim fishing......

I'm getting SBG to take me crappie and Brim fishing this weekend on the warrior river since its closes to home. And since bass seem to run away from warrior river i want to go crappie and brim fishing, but other than a bobber and crickets and night crawlers im not sure on what to use. Any suggestions???? I really want to go catch some fish this weekend!!!! HELP!!!!

---
Just cause there's a wiggle in the water don't mean the fish's on the hook.

Alright Stinkies Daddy I gotta know emoticon In another thread you were talking bout using a jig or a minnow, is there a better time to use one compared to the other????

This will be a night time fishin trip and I've got a good idea on where to go. The reason I think this would be a good place is a couple of weeks ago we had a bass tx. at night and fished around this boathouse and saw a BUNCH of bream coming to the surface after bugs. Let me see what you think. Its a lighted boathouse all by itself off in a small creek that the water depth is probably 12-14ft around the boathouse. There are bugs EVERYWHERE around the lights. The boathouse is fairly new just no one has purchased the house yet and the bugs have taken over the lights, its really kinda gross but I think the fish will like it.

I'd really like to get Bama into some fish this weekend and have a good time. This will be much more relaxing than runnin and gunnin up and down the river chasing after bass that I think are an endangered species on the river! emoticon

this is gonna sound like a Jimmy Houston commercial but when I need crappie for the table I use a roadrunner. yes a roadrunner and would ya believe a PINK one. Under Certain conditions a softbellie one works better than the hair.

David, river fish are a whole different breed of fish than what you catch out of a lake. The structure changes all the time which makes it hard to find the sweet spots. emoticon

sounds like a great place to start! i would take a gallon ziploc full of dog food and chum a lil also. as far as a how to fish for them i would use a #8 long shank aberdeen hook and a 1/2" cork with no weight, fished on a 7' micro lite with 2 or 4lb test and a lil reel. CRICKETS ARE GONNA BE THE BESAT CHOICE FOR THIS!!!!!!! and when and if the fish go deep u can add a lil weight or switch to a jig.

since most of ure strikes are gonna come at the top of the water collum i would start with like bait, i use tiny jigs during the day when its hot and im hugged up on docks and the fish go deep to beat the heat and aint activly feeding

good baits are gulp maggots, red worms, real wax worms (bee larve) crickets (my 1st choice)

there is a really cool way to catch crickets and ill tell u if'n ure intrested?

Shoot yeah I'm interested emoticon
Let me know what to do to catch some crickets. They are my 1st choice too. Bama likes using nightcrawlers and other worms, they just make to big of a mess in the boat emoticon

dig 3-4 holes on the fence line 3-4' apart. bury the jars til there is bout 1/2" stikin out of the ground. cut chunks of apple and put in each jar. cover with weeds. check often
