I drilled and tapped holes in the skeg and added a bolton torque tamer on it. Used locktight and ground the screws flush. It's been on there now 3 years and so far no problems with it.

Charlie, did you use machine thread screws? If so that would/will work great. I know the screws that come with the tabs (sheet metal screws)want stay well at all unless you use J-B Weld to help hold them in place.

Here is the way I did it but I like Bullets way better. I used the screws that came with it but I also used J-B weld on each screw and a good coat between the tab and the skeg. I let this cure then sanded to make look like one piece, on the back side I also ground down the screws to be flush. This method has lasted me for years and at 89.97 mph. On thing you don't want is any rough or sharp edges ahead of the prop. These rough edges will produce what is called cavitaion burn, I think I spelled that right, what this does is makes the water come to boil and creates a pits on the face of the blade, it's almost like taking a sand blaster and holding it in one spot until it starts to eat away at the metal.

one more thing do i need to use body filler or somthin to blend the tab to the skeg... or am i good after i locktite the bolts and grind them smooth and just leave it like that.. i have standard rotation prop that means i should mount the tab on the drver side at the trailing edge of the skeg right?? the fastest the boat will see is 60 and i dont think its gona run that under normal load but i have a whole lot of water pressure rooster tail is only about 1 foot high when loaded so i am to keep cranking untill i lose presure ou bite but i cant go any higher till i get this sterring fixed..

if ya got a painted lower I suggest getting some marine tex and blending in the leading edge ro a feathered edge so there are no sharp or right angled edges. Like Jay mentions it will cause a problem after a while. Mine is a polished sportmaster so I had to grind down the leading edge on the torque tamer itself.
I think I got mine at a local marina here for around 15.00 but bass pro and cabellas have them also

It will be the difference like night and day.
If when you get it on and test it and the steering wants to steer to the left by itself you can shorten the tab to lessen the counter steer. About 3/8 inch will be a good start.
