JMO:

I know you're looking for a "more accurate" psi reading but that's not really a concern. You can at least double check the gauge against the pisser if you show 0 on the gauge...plus even if it shows a tad less than than if you plugged it, that's a little insurance in your favor. Keep in mind, who says your gauge is completely accurate?

As far as how it relates to motor height, I figure you'll run out of bite on the water with the prop before you run out of psi, even if you needed to plug a couple water intakes.

If you have enough psi it isnt, while many say 12 ia enough it isnt in turns one loes a tad 15 psi is what I with a OMC ,with this motor and gearcase no problem as it gets 28 psi even with the pad.
Have fuel filter and prior to electric fuel pump.
I plugged exhaust holes as way to loud with 16 dollar a tube heat caulk,it sets harder than reg caulk feels like hard rubber yet can be pulled later, all the plugs held.
Racers merely run tape around the lower, covering the holes.
You might consider an aftermrkt nose cone add on that adds low water pickup like a bobs, cost is 400 bucks compared to a sportsmater thats cheap.
