Tempest 25

emoticon O.k Jay I took a buddy's tempest 25 out for a test run this morning on the Z.All I can say is WOW!!!.That thing popped the Z out of the water like a cork.It ran like a scalded cat all the way to about 65-68.I hit 73 with no problems other than the chine. The chine kind of caught me by surprize because of how fast it got there. I ran out of time had to go so I didn't run it anymore.I feel it had 74-75 in it easily.

My tempest plus 26 must be JUNK!!!

When I looked at the shape of this prop I really thought that there was no way it was going to run as good as mine.He has taken a grinder and shapened the edges and it has nicks in the edges.WOW!! this stock tempest smoked my Plus. Holeshot , midrange, and top end

25 to a 26 should be only 200 rpms on the other end. Without checking either one on the guage, the only thing I can tell you is that the 25 must on the money as for being a true prop vs.the 26.

Lets just say that as soon as I can get the extra fund the 26 TP will be coming your way for some B&B work. You would then be able to tell me how bad off it is or not.

Shadow was with me all morning doin some line wettin so I couldn't let her stretch her legs but when I dropped the hot foot all I could say was WOW! I was thinking that as easy as it come out of the hole that I would slam the limiter on top end.To my surprize 73 and still no limiter. 72 was max with the 26 at 5900 RPM.

Like I said he has taken a grinder to the edges and sharpened them. Looked like crap and had nicks up and down the ground edges. emoticon

Do you think that you can get my Plus to run like that? emoticon

Funny you say that, did you know a prop that has a satin or brushed finish is actually faster than a polished finished?

I'm sure it is but wouldn't think it would be that much. That's the same thing as sanding a hull. Creates air pockets between the water and surface it is contacting.

Am I correct? emoticon

Thats correct. Goes back to old school racing tricks. Every little bit adds up to more mph's...

I'm not really trying to get Max speed out of the Z right now I'm just trying to get optimum performance out of the prop I have.
I think right now I am at about 16-18% slip which I think is way high. emoticon
