Re: SBG & WEVEL
Well today SUCKED! Blue bird skies and the wind was up kinda bad. The grass I different than I have ever seen it before. Instead of being spotty and thined out its as thick as I have ever seen it. Places that I fished last year at this time you can't even get to them, its just too thick. Even with your weed hacker Charlie! (it works awesome when the grass isn't this thick, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!) Anyway only caught one fish today and he was short. Had ahold of 2 others but they stole the legs off my Ribbit frogs.
Hopefully with the meeting tonight I'll get a better idea of what kind of pattern they are on. Another bad thing is where the tx. is being held. Today was the first time I've ever been there. Usually I fish the South end of Guntersville but this is way North end and one HECK of a run back down South.
Anybody got any idears?????

Re: SBG & WEVEL
figure out what the usual fall pattern is there, probably chasing shad and such in the coves, and go from there. Keep searching you'll find them. I'd try rattle traps from 1' down to 10-12' til I found something.

Re: SBG & WEVEL
WHEW!!! What a day! Today I couldn't fish only my fishin veteran was able too. Talk about a weird feeling.....anyway we ran all over the lake and could not find a fish. Tomarrow I get to fish and I don't think there's much need in making the run that we did today. Wevel we went from Goose Pond all the way to the back of Honeycomb creek! They did kill the grass in the back of there though and that sucks. That was one of my go to spots. Not only was there not any grass it was VERY,VERY muddy. Not sure from what but it was bad. The rest of the lake is not too bad. Gonna try a rattle trap tommarrow and see how that goes. Thanks guys!
BTW winning weight from today was 10lbs. At least we weren't the only ones not to catch anything. There were many more. Hopefully things will be better tommarow!

Re: SBG & WEVEL
Go to your thick grass toss a smaller floater ribbet, work it slower, alternate with a floater something like a spro jr frog.
Part of that tearing legs off missing is due to the speed of the retrieve using floaters one can slow it down. Then work a spinner bait on the deep edge parallel.
You would know this if you had gone to the lilmule school of bassin.
Primary bait for me instead of the spinner bait is a dbbb, double barrel bass buster.
Fall-grass or no grass its top bait-49.95 ea

Re: SBG & WEVEL
Thanks lilmule. I may have to take you up on that offer.
Well we're back home and man what a weekend. I'm so wore out but we had a blast! If the PVA comes to your neck of the woods you really need to go check it out. We had a great time and got to meet some really awesome people. It was so suprising that these guys and gals would still be fishing. But they had their own tricks and did a great job at it and were really good.
Really wish the fishing would have been better. Sunday I was able to fish and only caught 3 short fish on a yellow trick worm. We came in empty handed again but we weren't the only one's. Found some good green grass in 8-10 foot of water and still could not find a fish. Found ton's of shad but no bass. Did try the rattle trap and changed up colors multiple times, still no bite. Oh well, we did what we could and still had a blast.
