Redfin Bite is on. Modify or not?

The morning and cloudy day Redfin bite is working at Table Rock Lake in Missouri. Smokey Joe is the hot bait however, I do modify my baits just a bit.
I take a 1/8" drill and place a hole in the belly of the forward section toward the rear. I then insert a dropshot weight into the hole and snip it off flush. I file down the lead to match the contour of the bait and then epoxy the hole to seal it. This causes the bait to sit a little more nose up and wakes much better than the standard bait.

Tell us about your tricks!

im emmaresed to tell my tricks after hearing jevs mine aint never that in depth... but ill post one if any body senko fishes rather it be waky,c-rig,or texas, take the tail and slice it up as thin as u can it makes it drop a bit slower and the action drives bass crazy. spawning bass cant stand a white sinko with a sliced up tail when there on bed.

yep what i do is bout the last 1.5'' to 2'' slice it in half then slice those then slice em again all the little tentacles will start out big then taper of to a small peice of soft plasic. the last slice is prety challaging for my not so great hand eye cordination.

I've got one for ya.
Its not a mod to a bait but an add on that I just recently learned about before I went to Table Rock. I will share with all of you. It almost worked there too but I believe it will be much better when the fish are after crankbaits.
For all of us that like to use crankbaits this helps out alot. About a foot or so above the crankbait, tie on a small, really small fluke looking bait, I think its called a sidekick. Its only about 2 inches long maybe not that much and has a small 1/0 hook in it. Then tie on you crankbait. This sounds so simple but it looks soo good going in the water. It looks like the crankbait is chasing the smaller bait and can trigger a bass to strike, showing the crankbait who's top of the food chain. The gentleman that told me about it says that he has caught 2 fish at once using this trick. Its small enough that it does not enterfear with the crankbaits action.
Try it out sometime and you'll be suprised. Its very simple to hook up, the only downside that I have is that instead of your crankbait being at the tip of your rod when your about to cast is that its a foot below the tip. Kinda makes it awkward but you'll get used to it.

The biggest bass that I did catch on Table Rock came from a crankbait with this rig, when I was fighting the fish I saw 2 other bass coming after the fluke while the bass was on the crankbait. But they didn't bite it.
Good luck!
