His will quit in about 15 minutes on cups hooked to a garden hose. nondisclosed_email@example.com (NITROZ9)Wed, 30 Jun 2010 14:47:35 +0000 Re: Losing powerhttps://bbassnboatscom.runboard.com/p4121,from=rss#post4121https://bbassnboatscom.runboard.com/p4121,from=rss#post41213 things come to mind to quickly check on them early motors    1, they didnt have an over heat horn so impeller may need changing or stats are toast 2. lower unit oil has drained out and is seizing / heating up 3. starter isn't disengaging after it starts due to a bad bendix drivenondisclosed_email@example.com (Bullet20dc)Wed, 30 Jun 2010 07:13:19 +0000 Losing powerhttps://bbassnboatscom.runboard.com/p4107,from=rss#post4107https://bbassnboatscom.runboard.com/p4107,from=rss#post4107I have a buddy at work that has a 70 something Mercury 500 on a pontoon that after about a 1/4 mile it starts losing power then dies. He said that the fuel system has been gone through from the tank (including new tank) to the carbs (including carbs being rebuilt). I told him it sounds like the top bearing in the LU is heating up and seizing. After it cools down it will start back, but when it dies and he tries to start back it turns real hard. What do you think it could be other than a bearing, or am I on the right track? nondisclosed_email@example.com (NITROZ9)Tue, 29 Jun 2010 22:04:33 +0000
