Id say you can make one as mine was a cardboard. As for switching brands there are more 89 year rudes needing patching still running and the black ones are generally gone when that old, inline six being the exception.nondisclosed_email@example.com (lilmule)Tue, 20 Apr 2010 21:38:44 +0000 Re: Water Jacket Gasket Failurehttps://bbassnboatscom.runboard.com/p345,from=rss#post345https://bbassnboatscom.runboard.com/p345,from=rss#post345ok now he's pokin himself before I get to him   nondisclosed_email@example.com (Bullet20dc)Sat, 17 Apr 2010 05:59:13 +0000 Water Jacket Gasket Failurehttps://bbassnboatscom.runboard.com/p328,from=rss#post328https://bbassnboatscom.runboard.com/p328,from=rss#post328I have an '89 E-Rude 175XP. While going over the boat this evening to make sure my impeller job went well, I found that the gasket on the water jacket cover between the cylinder banks had failed at the bottom edge. Looked like about a 3/4" portion of the gasket was pushed out and making a nice spray. I had about 5# of pressure at idle, which is plenty and I suppose I could run without fixing right now since I'm leaving tomorrow night for TR. What I want to know is: do I need that specific gasket or can I use something like RTV sealer and make my own? I know Bullet, just replace it with a Merc. 1FastRockSmacker - you got any input on dis OMC? Make yourself useful! nondisclosed_email@example.com (1Nightmare)Fri, 16 Apr 2010 20:59:59 +0000
