Gas V/S Diesel
As you guys know we did our first Marching band gig last night and I have a little real life info to put out here.
The other guy that pulls a trailer with me has a Ford F250 with the V10.His trailer is loaded with the same weight as the one that I pull (24' enclosed, about 7000#).
We ran about 200 miles last night.I followed him down to the comp and the whole time I was telling him to go on,you are holding me up.There was times I had to hit my brakes going up hill because I would have run over him.
When we arrived at the comp we were talking about the trip and he informed me that he might have to stop on the way back to get gas.He burned 1/2 a tank on the way down.
This is no lie I still had 7/8 of a tank.
We took the babies with us so the cummins idled the whole time we were down there except for the time we had the dog out letting them run and use the bathroom. It idled for at least 4 hours.
When we left he said that he was going to turn the air off and take it a little easier on the way back to see if he could make it. Remember it was 11:30 and I was ready to get home.
We get to his house and he made it without stopping but his light was on. I still had 5/8 of a tank.
I checked my mileage this morning and even with idleing for 4 hours I still got 14 MPG for the trip.Oh Yeah I forgot to mention that 70% of the trip was two lane highway with hills and curves.Through towns and everything.
Man I love my Cummins

Re: Gas V/S Diesel
Those V10 are pigs! Get pitiful gas mileage and wouldn't pull wouldn't pull a greased string out of a cats behind.
